Raleigh Thomas

“Boris was a spark. I am his flame.”

Summary

Once a renowned healer, Boris Maxwell taught at Coligual College as a professor in Thiva in Gessex. Openly he performed terrible experiments on volunteer students. Horrific trials all in the pursuit of the grand truth of good versus evil. However, the volunteers kept coming due to positive reviews, and many colleagues applauded his work. With everyone’s eyes on him, Boris would not and could not commit acts of “evil.”  As a reluctant pacifist, the weight of possible guilt was nauseating even at a thought. One fateful night, Boris was no more. In a drunken rampage, he accidently downed a large cocktail of potions and drugs. Born from his body was a demon: a manifestation of hatred and dark desires. But Boris’s heart was too pure. The demon found itself wanting, yet unable to commit. At every moment of opportunity, the demon was slothful and doubtful. A question emerged: What is a demon that is incapable of its own name? To cope with the existential dread of its own duality, the demon took the name Raleigh Thomas and left the college behind. Now a medical mercenary, Raleigh seeks to participate in the battle royale not for fame or fortune, but to answer life’s most difficult questions: Who am I? What am I? For no human sees Raleigh as human and no demon sees Raleigh as a demon.
