Pionism

“They called it a durian.”

Summary

Pioneers believe in the teachings of a their now deceased leader, Kelly, who claimed he could speak to god. He believed that god tasked him with finding and seeking the many treasures that he left behind during the creation of the universe. Secrets of life that are either unknown by morphics or greedily coveted by others. It is through these valuables that living would improve and morphic kind would prosper. At an early age, pioneers are taught to never value oneself above anyone else and that by seeking out god’s treasures can they be shared for the greater good. Kelly’s followers can often be found pursuing new activities and new innovations with the intent to bring it home and share it.

Beliefs

  • One supreme god that is the ruler and creator of everything

  • Kelly is the first and only of god’s messengers

  • True happiness is discovering the unknown

  • Sharing is the foundation of what makes someone morphic

  • The universe is a puzzle waiting to be solved

Practices

At some point in every pioneers life they will make a pilgrimage to the holy city of Fezel. Some will make this pilgrimage more than once, but it is extremely rare for a devout pioneer to not at least try to once. To pioneers, Fezel is the city where Kelly was born in and died in. What a pioneer brings to the holy city wholly depends on the follower. It is not uncommon for pioneers to bring something as simple as fruit to their holy city of Fezel. At the start of every full moon, these discoveries are recorded, judged, and shared in a holiday fueled festival. If something brand new is found and deemed worthy, the pioneer ascends a rank. Most pioneers will never make it past the starting rank, but some pioneers exceeding 5 ranks or above have been known to obtain high positions within the religion. While this has created some religious factions as to how gets to present something new first, the different sects generally share equally to prevent conflict.

Pioneers will almost never say no to anything. They believe that refusal to new ideas is against the teachings of Kelly, but this has led to conservative pionism and liberal pionism. Conservatives believe that they should always say yes even it means harm to themselves or others. Liberals believe that some things should be said no to if they result in harm to themselves or others. While both will accept the knowledge, conservatives will participate while liberals will not. This includes war crimes, the ingesting of lethal poisons, and other acts that some liberals don’t see as god’s gifts.
